The History of Mackenzie…..

Mackenzie Junior High was opened in 1963 on a 30 acre site between 11th and 12th streets and Bangor and Chicago Avenues in Lubbock, Texas.  It was named after Colonel Ranald Slidell Mackenzie and organized for grades 7 through 9.

In 2006, the name changed to Mackenzie Middle School and it was then reorganized for grades 6 through 8.
